As I made dinner tonight, I opened the sour cream carton to find this brightly colored fresh thought ...
Who knew Daisy was providing "fresh thinking"?! Gotta love them cows AND family-owned businesses! (By the way, this is the ONLY sour cream in my supermarket that has nothing but cream in it. Most have added ingredients, some of which are not healthy for anyone with allergies to wheat.)
The label reminded me of one of my favorite Scripture reminders that is found in Proverbs 15:1: "A soft answer turns away anger."
The easy thing to do when someone ticks me off is to lash out at them, make fun of what they said to me or about me, or to be plain ole' rude back at 'em! (When I get upset, my 'southern' comes out … could you tell? Ha.)
But what I hope for is to recognize my reaction for what it is, and subsequently check it according to this principle. The LAST thing I want to do is check myself or have myself checked by anyone else in these moments! However, I want to be capable of doling out the kind words and allowing others to feel fresh as a spring shower.
Do you find it as hard as I do to be kind when you really don't want to be?!
