It's my birthday today! I'm not 13, or 25, or even 42, but the message of this song is so powerful! No matter your age, size, or station in life, you are beautiful just the way you are!!
And I have been made to feel beautiful today ... I slept in a bit and got up to find so many birthday wishes filling my inbox, many of them from foreign countries! Then was invited by my husband to an impromptu lunch at Coho and we spent a longer lunch break than deemed proper. My dad and my grandma called to deliver the annual "Birthday Concert" by phone ... always off key and extra loud! My son announced to all of Facebook that his "beautiful mother" was celebrating her 27th birthday. Gotta love a kid who'll do that, right?! My oldest daughter drove 30 minutes out of her way to bring me French macarons (she knows the way to my heart!) and my youngest is making plans with her dad to be sure that I don't have to cook dinner. All of this TODAY after we celebrated last Friday evening as well!!
I'm so blessed to have lived this life and to have the love of friends and family. Thank you all for making my day so special.
Edited at the end of a fabulous day to add: The good things keep happening! My piano students brought me "prizes" this afternoon ... a homemade raspberry bar and a homemade card were among the goodies. I was treated to dinner at a tapas bar (think Spanish food, not risque' activity, folks!) and the guitarist/singer (Javier) sang "Happy Birthday" song to me. SO totally fitting since the first birthday after I met Ken was celebrated in Spain! Javier followed that with "Besame Mucho", at the request of my husband. In case you are wondering, he most decidedly got a kiss at the end of the song and the entire restaurant applauded! (KEN got the kiss ... not Javier!)
